The Carlton County Board of Commissioners will meet in regular session August 13, 2019, at 9:00 a.m. at the Carlton County Transportation Building, 1630 Highway 61, Carlton, Minnesota. At this time the Board will conduct a Public Hearing to receive comment on the following Proposed Resolution rendering the County Auditor/Treasurer position an appointed office. All interested persons may appear and be heard at the time and place set forth above. Individuals unable to attend the Public Hearing can make comment by writing to Carlton County Auditor/Treasurer, PO Box 130, Carlton, MN 55718. Written comments must be received before the Public Hearing.
CARLTON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
PROPOSED RESOLUTION FOR CHANGING THE OFFICE OF
AUDITOR/TREASURER FROM ELECTED TO APPOINTED
WHEREAS the offices of the Carlton County Auditor and Treasurer have been previously consolidated into the office of the Carlton County Auditor/Treasurer; and
WHEREAS the office of the Carlton County Auditor/Treasurer is currently an elective office; and
WHEREAS the Carlton County Auditor/Treasurer resigned effective May 31, 2019; and
WHEREAS the office of County Auditor/Treasurer is currently vacant within the meaning of Minn. Stat. § 351.02(2); and
WHEREAS the Carlton County Board of Commissioners wants to ensure that the individual holding this position possesses the skills and/or experience necessary to properly carry out the responsibilities of this position; and
WHEREAS the office of Carlton County Auditor/Treasurer may be rendered an appointive office by resolution of the County Board of Commissioners pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 375A.1205, subd. 6; and
WHEREAS the August 13, 2019 meeting of the Carlton County Board of Commissioners will provide an opportunity for public comment on the Board’s decision.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that pursuant to Minn. Stat. § 375A.1205, the Carlton County Board of Commissioners shall render the office of Carlton County Auditor/Treasurer appointive, effective September 13, 2019.
