Carlton County COVID-19 update 4/8/20
General Updates:
Carlton County officials were notified by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) of one additional lab-confirmed COVID-19 case in a Carlton County resident. No additional details were shared at this time and the case is being investigated by MDH. The lab-confirmed case total for Carlton County is 14. Please find the situation map, updated by MDH daily at 11am here.
Of the 1,154 lab-confirmed cases on MDH’s website, 135 are currently hospitalized and 632 no longer need isolation. The Moose Lake Correctional Facility has reported 9 lab-confirmed cases in inmates (these fall within the 14 total in Carlton County), 7 of which have recovered.
The Minnesota House and Senate (with strong bipartisan support) passed a $330 million package to address a second wave of COVID-19 concerns (HF4531). The bill provides emergency funding for several purposes: support for stable housing, support to food shelves, grants to veterans and surviving spouses, grants for child care providers, funding for temporary staff to administer and issue driver’s licenses and IDs, small business loans, and for emergency services such as immediate housing needs for the homeless. It also provides an extension to driver’s licenses, permits or disability parking permits that will expire during the peacetime emergency.
